GNÍOMH.IE

A Take Action platform mobilising the Irish language community across the state to promote Conradh na Gaeilge's issues in the newly elected government's deliberations for the Programme for Government.

Róisín Ní Chinnéide, Bainisteoir Abhcóideachta, Conradh na Gaeilge:

We sought the help of rabble.coop to build a website that we could use to platform campaigns for the Irish language all across Ireland, having seen how effective their work on dearg.ie was. The first tool that rabble.coop created for us on gníomh.ie facilitated members of the public in contacting their local Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil representatives in relation to Irish-language and Gaeltacht commitments in the new Programme for Government.

The communication from the team at rabble.coop during the process of putting the tool together was exceptional, and every aspect of the tool that was important to us was put into effect.

Last minute changes and corrections were implemented with no hassle, and we were kept updated regularly on the progress of the action. 1,330 people used this first tool to have their voice heard in the drafting of the Programme for Government, and the feedback that we received from them was overwhelmingly positive - user-friendly, tailored (to the point that people could indicate whether they were writing from a particular Gaeltacht area), concise and entirely bilingual.

The establishment of gníomh.ie has opened up a whole new avenue of campaigning and activism for us, allowing us to reach communities who may not typically have that access. The first tool demonstrated the potential that gníomh.ie has to facilitate meaningful engagement from the public on Irish-language and Gaeltacht issues, and we couldn't be in better hands working with rabble.coop
