A campaigning platform highlighting the housing crisis in Belfast integrating advanced map-based data visualisations as well as public outreach tools to generate enthusiasm for the solutions proposed by the Take Back the City coalition.
Marissa McMahon, Organiser, Take Back the City:
The team at rabble.coop is very committed and frequently goes above and beyond to assist our campaigners. They have a strong ethical values base which makes them ideally positioned to deliver tech for social justice projects.
We needed a website to make a convincing case for housing at Mackie's - a site that could evolve alongside our campaign. As a first step, rabble.coop developed The State of Belfast, an interactive map which brought together both public and crowd-sourced data to profile life in Belfast - for example allowing the user to overlay data around housing need, deprivation, publicly owned land, religious background and climate change impact.
For the Assembly election in 2022, rabble.coop purpose built an online hustings to showcase the response of electoral candidates to the campaign demands of our activists, including a facility for activists to contact candidates directly. The responses were overlaid on the The State of Belfast map, providing a quick visual reference point on the party political positions.
